Some commonly asked questions about Priory Hall weddings

Can we leave cars overnight? Can our guests throw confetti? Do you charge corkage? Here are some answers...

What sort of music can we have in the evening?
Discos, bands, musicians and entertainers are all allowed in the hall, though no amplified music is available outside.

Where do we park?
There is ample parking on the site with drop-off points at the entrances. No parking in front of the hall, though. That's reserved for the bridal car.

Can we leave cars overnight?
Yes, at the owner's risk. They should be collected by 10.30am the next day.

Are there guest rooms at Priory Hall?
There are no rooms on site but plenty a short walk away. You'll have access to our full list if you book.

Do you have an accommodation list?
Yes. When you book Priory Hall you'll have access to all this information - and much more - on the website.

Can we have access the day before our wedding?
No problem, as long as Priory Hall is not being used the day before. We'll know this a couple of months before your date.

Can our suppliers visit Priory Hall in advance?
It's probably essential that some do! Photographers new to Priory Hall should check the place out (though it's useful to have someone who knows the place, try www.jamiedavidphotography.co.uk ) and caterers should come to see the facilities. Close family members may also want to see Priory Hall before your wedding. (But remember, a pre-wedding visit may spoil the wow factor on the day.) Visits can be arranged directly with Priory Hall on 01473 823185 or 07711 321907..

What outside areas can we use?
Well, there's the walled garden and lawns which are mostly used. Then there's the orchards and nott garden - peaceful areas complete with fountain. Given you'll all be in wedding clothes, you'll probably want to avoid the wood walk and lake walk but enjoy the views instead. In other words, you use what you want. There won't be anyone else using it on your day.

Are fireworks allowed?
Yes...and no. Fireworks of the quiet pretty type are fine. Big bangs and whizzing sparks are not.

What about confetti?
Petals and rice are great. Coloured paper or shiny metallic shapes are not.

Can we bring our own wine?
Yes, but everything brought in must also be removed; all bottles/cans and rubbish have to be taken away.

What about corkage charges?
We don't charge corkage...but the caterers serving the alcohol might. Best to check.

Can we find our own caterers?
We have a list of recommended caterers but you can choose your own as long as you give Priory Hall their details. It's just that the arrangements for paying the agency commission are different with non-recommended caterers.

Are there any safety issues?
The grounds are old and established and many of the brick steps are uneven and worn. However, all main areas are accessible without using steps.

Does Priory Hall organise weddings?
We answer your questions and help where possible. You can hire wedding planners separately.

When does our day have to end?
Our alcohol and entertainments licences finish at 11.30pm, so music and alcohol sales have to stop then. There is ample time for drifting away after that.

What are our liabililites?
Any damage to property other than normal wear and tear remains the responsibility of the people hiring the facilities. Priory Hall is covered by public indemnity insurance.

How do we arrange a visit? How do we book?
All bookings are arranged through Country House Wedding Venues. This does cost a small booking fee, but it's worth it. To get through to Priory Hall, go to our contact us page. For more information, or to arrange a visit, contact Priory Hall direct.

Can we have a cash bar?
Priory Hall has a premises licence and a bar provider will have a personal licence, as do Priory Hall owners. So yes you can sell alcohol...you don't have to finance all the evening's drinking! the licence is available until 11.30pm.
