Children
If you ask people not to bring children you risk a load of hassle; say yes and you increase your costs and your guests will be sidelined into looking after increasingly bored and tired children. They are normally fine for a few hours, but desparately seeking escape as the day wears on. Of course, it does depend on how many children you have, and their ages. But get a group of six or more 7 to 14 year olds and you'll certainly need help.
Which is why we have developed a child friendly system at Priory Hall with a quiet, shoes off DVD room available with the proper supervision from a local group of highly qualified child carers.
This will, of course, cost extra - not the room but the child carers - but you may feel it's a price worth paying to make sure your guests can enjoy your celebration happily and safely. You could pass some of this cost onto parents who may be hugely relieved they can have a night to party.
Hadleigh based Little Guests Wedding Creche is managed by Emma Longman and Sue Mcfadyen. They will tailor their creche to individual needs and aim to make sure the children have a great time too. The extensive grounds at Priory Hall can lead to child disasters - falling in the ponds, off trees or into nettle beds - but can also be used effectively for treasure hunts, nature walks and outdoor games.
Children need to be supervised all the time at Priory Hall and parental pledges to do this are well meaning but unrealistic. And there's the problem. Grandparents are often happy to look after the children during the day, but Priory Hall is a big venue and with a lot of children, this is quite a task.
The Little Guests Creche bring their own equipment - from giant Connect Four to creative games - so they can keep everyone happy. And they can use the quiet room with a large range of DVDs supplied by Priory Hall so the children can crash on giant cushions as night falls.
This quiet room is not available without the required qualified supervision. If you want to bring in your own team they will need the proper qualifications and follow the legal requirements of child care. And if you want a bouncy castle, or something similar, these need to be supervised by qualified staff at all times too.
